The wife of Niger State governor, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Umaru Bago, has asked governments at all levels to intensify efforts in the fight against discrimination and violence against women, especially those who have aspired to lead, to enable them contribute their quota to the development of their respective communities.
She made the call at a two-day training workshop on protocol, security and empowerment of women political office holders in Niger State.
“The involvement of women in governance is not just an option; it is a necessity for the growth and betterment of society as women have continued to show capacity with attendant goodwill in various fields of endeavours,” she said.
She further said no discussion on women’s empowerment is complete without addressing the pressing issue of Gender-Based Violence.

She said, “It is incumbent upon us to create environments that are safe and supportive, where women can thrive without fear or subjugation.”
