The Yobe State Government, in collaboration with the North East Development Commission (NEDC), has secured the freedom of 15 inmates from the medium-security custodial centre in Potiskum LGA.
The gesture followed a rigorous consideration by the government and NEDC in which the inmates with minor debts and fines were serving jail terms.
,Yobe State Focal Person of NEDC, Hon Nuhu Baba Hassan, said the move was aimed at decongesting the facility.
He advised the freed inmates to obey their parents and guardians and to turn over a new leaf and restart afresh so that their communities would be proud of them.
