The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu has urged governments at all levels to prioritize more investments in education and human capital development and infrastructure as they are key to the actualisation of long term development.
Kalu made the remark on Sunday in his keynote address at the 5th IG Leadership Excellence Awards 2023 held Saturday night in Abuja on the topic “Excellence in Leadership: The Nigerian Context”.
Represented by the member representing Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, Chris Nkwonta, he said, “Investing in education and human capital development is vital for the long-term growth and progress of Nigeria.
The Deputy Speaker, who was honored with the ‘Best Legislator of the Year’ Award at the event, added that leaders should prioritize quality education and skills training to equip the Nigerian workforce with the necessary tools to compete in the global economy.

He said, “Nigeria has a large population of young people who hold the potential to drive innovation, economic growth, and social progress.
