Billionaire entrepreneur and former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Mrs Ibukun Awosika, has urged women entrepreneurs to be innovative in their respective businesses to survive the harsh economic situation in the country.
Awosika who is the CEO of Th e Chair Centre Group, spoke at the 2023 Women High Achievers Trybe (WHAT) conference with the theme: “Elevating Women Entrepreneurs: Strategies for Success”, held in Lagos. “Your business must be able to reinvent itself per season in today’s world. Innovation is the major
strategic tool for any business to survive. A lot of changes are going on in the world,” she said.
Mrs Awosika encouraged women entrepreneurs not to get tired with downtime in their businesses, advising them to seek opportunities so they can reset their businesses to cope with the challenges.
“For instance, some companies reset themselves during the COVID-19. This is your ability to think on
your feet with flexibility and openness,” she added. She explained that entrepreneurship rides on the wings of 3 key stages, saying, “The three keys when it comes to entrepreneurship and your ability to effectively deploy each stage will determine how successful you are in the venture.” The convener, Mrs Kiki Okewale, said the conference was geared towards empowering women in business to understand how to improve their crafts.
