Veterinary council inducts 29 new vet doctors

No fewer than 29 graduates of veterinary medicine from the University of Ilorin have been inducted by the Veterinary Council of Nigeria.

The veterinarians are from the 2021/2022 academic session of the university. 

Speaking during the induction and oath taking ceremony, the president, Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), AIG Aishatu Abubakar-Baju, charged the graduates to abide by the laid down rules and regulations guiding their profession.

Represented by Professor Mathew Adamu, the VCN president said that the regulatory agency has digitised its operation to check quackery and provide more efficient and effective operation.

According to her, “You should register with the agency to practise within the ambit of the law and ethics of the profession or face tribunal set up to try defaulters”.

Also speaking, the dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Oyebisi Azeez, said that the ceremony marked the beginning of a journey that holds great responsibility and greater reward.

Also speaking, the vice chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN) said parents and the society deserve more from the new veterinary doctors for the labour on them, added that, “You cannot afford to disappoint Nigeria”. 

Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Oyebisi Azeez, on her part, said that the ceremony marked the beginning of a journey that holds great responsibility and reward.

A son of a police officer in Ogun state and a petty trader mother, Fasasi Abdulbasit, emerged the best graduate in the faculty.
