FAW Trucks to set up more local assembly hubs

Chinese automaker FAW Trucks has revealed plans to set up more local hubs for assembling its vehicles in the country.

This was disclosed by the Chief Representative of the company, Allen Lee, at its product launch in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said the company has recognised the opportunities in Nigeria’s dynamic and rapidly developing economy, hence the decision to officially introduce its products in Abuja. 

Lee said PAW has introduced a range of innovative and rugged trucks that were designed to navigate Nigeria’s challenging road conditions.

He said the vehicles were specifically designed for African roads, which can efficiently navigate rough terrain and cut down journey times, making transportation more efficient and reliable.

According to him, one of the major transportation challenges in Nigeria has been its poor road conditions, particularly during the rainy season. 

The PAW Trucks representative added that journeys from Lagos to Kano could take up to 15 days in the past due to road conditions. 

He however said the company’s vehicles can cut down the Lagos to Kano journey to just a few days because they can efficiently navigate rough terrains.

He added that FAW Trucks is committed to producing vehicles with a long life and endurance.

The company representative also revealed that they are “considering a transition from fossil fuel to more eco-friendly alternatives in line with global trends and a shift towards sustainable energy sources.”

Speaking during the launch, the president, National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Alhaji Yusuf Usman, called on the company to bring in more customer-friendly policies to enable members to key into the new truck line, adding that Nigeria needed good services from trucks.
