War on Gaza: Palestinian ambassador, Kaigama seek two-state solution

The Ambassador of Palestine to Nigeria, Abdullah Abu Shawesh, and the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Revd Ignatius Kaigama, have called for peace in the raging Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

They made the call on Thursday at the Abuja Archdiocesan General Assembly (AAGA), with the theme: ‘Marriage and Family in Contemporary Society’.

They also urged individuals and organisations to raise their voices to stop the conflict and support the implementation of international law and adherence to United Nations resolutions.

They noted that one of the major ways forward is to apply the two-state solution as the only viable path toward peace.

Ambassador Shawesh, who was a special guest at the event, explained the suffering of the Palestinian people and the need for the world to hear their side of the story.

“Is it not fair to implement international humanitarian law? Is it not fair to implement EU resolutions? Decisive action must be taken to address these issues. I urge you and the world to raise your voices against the ongoing massacres,” Shawesh said.

Kaigama urged both parties to cease the violence, emphasising that conflicts and violence do not provide solutions to any problems, and instead called for dialogue and negotiations.
