Kano govt. to sanction School of Health Tech over sanitation

The Kano State Government is to sanction its School of Health Technology for shunning the state’s monthly sanitation.

The state Commissioner for Environment, Dr Ali Makoda, made this known on Friday during a sanitation inspection of workplaces, markets and motor parks in Kano.

Makoda, also the Chairman of the state Committee on Sanitation, said that the school’s management staff members were not on ground during the committee’s inspection visit to the school, although they were notified two weeks ago.

“Despite the two weeks’ notice given to the management of the school, we came today and no one was around to receive us and take us round,’’ the official said.

He remarked that the school environment was unhygienic.

“The committee will hold a special meeting and decide on the sanction to give to the school,’’ he said.

Makoda charged governmental and non-governmental bodies in the state to comply with the inspection directive, warning that failure would attract sanctions.

“Sanitation is a priority to the present administration, and whoever toys with it will not go free,’’ he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kano Government introduced a monthly sanitation for workplaces, markets and motor parks to be observed on the last Friday of every month. (NAN)
