Demolition: Kaduna club members sue state govt, 6 others

Four members of the Kaduna Club located along Muhammadu Buhari Way have dragged the Kaduna State government and six others to state High Court 1 over the demolition and reallocation of the land belonging to the club.

The members include Mahmoud Sule, Jibril Akaba, Mustapha A. Dandago and Abdulgafar Bello are seeking for an order restraining the defendants from further processing, maintaining and touching of the property.

They claim that 1st defendant did not comply with the extant Land Use Act in allocating the club land as there was no notice of revocation of title issued and no compensation paid to the club.

The defendants in the suit are the governor of Kaduna State, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Kaduna State Geographic Information (KADGIS), Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA), Incorporated Trustees of Kaduna Club, Thames & Hudson Architects Ltd, and Engineer Tijjani Abubakar who are 1st to 7th defendants in the suit.

When the case came up yesterday, the Presiding Judge, Justice Yakubu Badamasi adjourned the matter to 4th December, 2023 for proof. He then directed that all the defendants be served hearing notices before the adjourned date.
