An 18-year-old girl named Waliyah has been recovered dead from a domestic well in Kwara State.
This is coming less than 24 hours after a 7-year-old boy, Abdull-Hayi, was discovered dead after he slipped and tumbled into a well in Akerebiata, Ilọrin East LGA.
The latest incident occurred around 6:46 pm on Tuesday at Ile-Olodo, Ita Merin area in Ilorin West LGA, it was gathered.
Our correspondent learnt that the victim suddenly jumped into the well to the bewilderment of some residents shortly after a friendly conversation with neighbours in the compound.
Spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
He said the recovered corpse from the well was handed over to the Magaji of Ile-Olodo, Alhaji Adisa Akanbi.
According to him, the “Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, has warned parents and guardians to refrain from sending them to fetch water from domestic wells”.
Meanwhile, Adekunle also confirmed that the fire service also recovered the lifeless body of a man in Amilengbe area of Ilọrin.
He said the command was alerted to the incident around 5:08 pm on Tuesday. “The deceased was approximately 43 years of age and was handed over to a team of police officers from the ‘A’ Division, Ilọrin,” he submitted.
