Residents lament as Bridges connecting Osun communities collapse

People of Ilobu in Osun State have expressed worry as the two bridges connecting several communities to schools, hospitals and farms in the town have collapsed.

Lamenting, the people of the town said many communities have been cut off from the town and that farm produce could not be transported to markets while students crawl on dilapidated bridge to cross to school.

At a press conference heralding the 31st Ilobu-Asake Development Union, National President of the body, Pastor Olufemi Salako, appealed to state and federal government to come to the aid of people of Ilobu constructing the two bridges.

He said quick intervention of government by constructing new bridges on these roads would prevent avoid loss of lives and have positive impact on the lives of the people of the town.

Salako said the union would empower some Persons with Disabilities in the community while residents would also benefit from IDU free medical outreach.

He said the celebration would showcase Ilobu culture and talents at the Palace of Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Asiru Olatoye Olaniyan.

He added that the event would feature sporting activities at St Paul’s Grammar School and with special Jumat prayer and annual Eko Evening on Friday.

According to him, “the Grand Finale holds on Saturday at St Paul’s Grammar School where the Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke will be leading a galaxy of dignitaries to our peaceful community. Illustrious sons of Ilobu, Rt Hon. Lasun Yussuff, Former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives; Arc. Tunde Ojo, former Clerk to the National Assembly and Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff will be leading fund raising of N200M for developmental projects in our community. A thanksgiving Service on Sunday, at the St Michael’s Anglican Church will wrap up the celebration.”
