Plateau comedian, Funny Gee, raises N.6m for robbery victim

A popular comedian in Jos, Plateau State, Godwin Alechenu Ogah, popularly known as Funny Gee, has raised N600,000 for the treatment of a motorcyclist, Silas John, who was attacked and robbed of his motorcycle.

Daily Trust learnt that the victim, a science laboratory graduate, was found unconscious and bleeding at the Fwavwei Junction, Rayfield, Jos, on Saturday, October 15, around 8pm.

Funny Gee, who was driving by was said to have come to the rescue and took the man to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Hospital where he got first aid after which he was referred to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).

Speaking with Daily Trust yesterday on the victim’s treatment, Funny Gee said that on getting to JUTH, they said a surgery would be required, and that in addition to other treatment it would amount to about N600,000.

Funny Gee said he had to resort to his social media platforms to raise the money and that people really donated generously until the money was raised.

He explained that, “Over N600,000 was expended on Silas John for his medical bills in JUTH, which includes a CT scan, drugs, blood infusion, a brain surgery and therapy. I used all my social media platforms to raise this fund from very well meaning Nigerians who graciously donated to this cause.” He added that Mr John had been discharged and was recuperating at home.
