Rotary International in collaboration with the Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee has distributed wheelchairs to over 200 People With Disabilities (PWDs) in celebration of the World Polio Day in Kano with the theme: “End polio now.”
The celebration followed a peaceful walk after convening at the Kano Emir’s palace to the state Government House in a colourful show.
Speaking, the District Governor of Rotary International District 9125 consisting of all the clubs in 23 states of Nigeria and Abuja, Sagab Sani Ahmed said the celebration is to appreciate all the partners that have been involved in the polio eradication initiative.
Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero represented by Dankadan Kano, Dr Bashir I Muhammad commended the organisers for their foresight in identifying with the people with special needs.
