Landlord’s son charged with theft of tenant’s phone

A man, Uwemedimo Offiong (43), was on Monday arraigned in a Karu area court in Abuja for allegedly stealing a cellphone worth N157,000 from his tenant.

The prosecution counsel, Mr Olanrewaju Osho, told the court that on August 6, the complainant, Mrs Deborah Yakubu, reported that the defendant who was her landlord’s son entered her apartment and stole her Samsung phone worth N157,000.

The prosecutor noted that the offence contravened Sections 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Umar Mayana, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in like sum, a deposit of N100,000 made, and adjourned the case to October 26. (NAN)
