Niger State government has said that it has cleared the N205 million debt owed the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to enable the students whose results have been withheld in the last two years by the examination body access their results.
The Special Adviser to the Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago on Print Media, Aisha Wakaso disclosed this at a media briefing in Government House on Tuesday.
She said already, the results of the affected candidates had been released by the examination body.
Wakaso said the debts inherited from the immediate past administration in the state had stopped the affected candidates from public schools to further their education to tertiary institutions due to lack of access to their O’level results, especially those who sat for only WAEC.

She said the government had also continued to clear the debts owed the National Examinations Council (NECO).
Wakaso said the state government had also started receiving the 200 CNG buses procured at the cost of N7 billion as palliative to cushion the effects of removal of fuel subsidy.
