Procurement officers key to Tinubu’s vision of fighting corruption – BPP DG

Procurement officers have been charged to ensure integrity, transparency, accountability and fairness in the discharge of their duties as they are key to President Bola Tinubu’s vision of fighting corruption and reviving the economy.

The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Mamman Ahmadu, disclosed this in Lagos at the opening ceremony of the three-week 2023 Continuous Procurement Capacity Training (CPCDTP).

Addressing procurement officers drawn from various ministries and agencies of the federal government, the DG said that procurement process is a determinant factor for the development of a nation.

Ahmadu, who was represented by the Director, Regulations and Database, BPP, Mr Aliyu Aliyu, said the bureau is the regulatory authority responsible for the monitoring and oversight of public procurement and charged with the responsibility of the harmonisation of existing government policies and practices by regulating, setting standards and developing the legal framework and professional capacity for public procurement in the country.
