The police in the FCT have shot dead a suspected gang member of kidnappers while arresting one other suspect during a gun duel in the Bwari Forest in Bwari Area Council.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the FCT, Haruna Garba, who disclosed this during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters at the weekend, said one of the kidnapper suspects, Salisu Abdullahi, was arrested, while Baba Dan Tsoho, another gang member, was killed during exchange of gunshots with the anti-kidnap policemen.
He said the arrested suspect, aside from taking active part in kidnapping activities, was also an informant and food supplier to his master, one Badume.
Garba further said, “Badume is a kidnap kingpin who is responsible for kidnapping activities in Kaduna and Nasarawa states, extending to Bwari and Mpape in the FCT, even as he is assisting the police in effort to arrest other fleeing gang members.”
He also disclosed that operatives from the command acting on credible intelligence trailed and arrested four suspects, Douglas Joseph Lafa, Omachoko Samuel, Job Teddy and David Simon, over possession of three stolen vehicles.
He said the three stolen vehicles, a blue Toyota Camry 2013, a white Mazda 626, and an ash Toyota Sienna, all unregistered, stolen from Abuja were recovered in Kaduna.
