Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have apprehended one Lawan Saidu (25) for allegedly raping a 13-year-old daughter of his concubine in Potiskum LGA.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement in Damaturu, disclosed that the suspect had been having illicit affairs with the mother of the victim for some time, hence the mother often invited him into her matrimonial home anytime her husband was away.
He said her daughter felt distressed towards the act and reported to her father which eventually led to the divorce of the mother.
He added that the suspect became angry and decided to transfer his aggression to the daughter, whom he attacked in the house after the father left for his shop.
DSP Dungus said the suspect went to their house with some biscuits and Bobo milk drinks when the father left them alone in the house.
He alleged that the suspect raped the girl, adding that further investigation is currently ongoing at the state CID, Damaturu, while the victim was treated and discharged from the hospital.
