Kwara: 19-year-old arraigned for stealing N.4m from friend’s account to bet online

The Kwara State Police Command has arraigned a 19-year-old man, Abdulkabir Olarewaju, for allegedly stealing his friend’s (Adeyemo Olusegun) iPhone 11 Pro and using the phone to transfer N400,000 from the friend’s account and betting online with the money.

According to the police report, the complainant, Olusegun, accommodated the defendant, Olarewaju in his house when he stole the phone valued at N370,000, a power bank and other items.

The police said that in the course of investigation, he was tracked down to Jebba and arrested before he later confessed to the crime.

The FIR reads in part: “That he diverted the complainant’s N400,000 from his access bank and used it to play an online bet game on his stolen iPhone 11 Pro.”

The Magistrate, Gbadeyan Kamson, granted the accused bail and adjourned to October 24, 2023.
