The Nasfat Agency for Zakat and Sadaqat (NAZAS) FCT zone, has disbursed N11.3m to beneficiaries in Abuja as part of activities marking this year’s celebration of Maulud Nabiyyu, the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
The disbursement, on Saturday in Abuja, was the 9th since its inauguration, consisting of empowerment, education and medical support for beneficiaries.
A total of 72 beneficiaries, mostly women, benefited from the disbursement.
In his opening remark, the Chairman of NAZAS, Alhaji Isiaq Ajibola, said the disbursement was done three times annually.

He also said about N110m was disbursed by the zone since 2019, while a total of N500m was paid nationwide since 2014.
He urged beneficiaries to utilise their funds in growing their businesses and strive to become independent persons and givers of zakat in the future.
Also, the National Women Leader of NASFAT, Alhaja Suweebah Bola Kupolati, and a director of NAZAS, Alhaja Sherifah Andu, who came from Lagos for the women bilingual conference, presented the overall award to the beneficiaries of zakat on the sideline.
In their remarks, they congratulated the recipients and thanked the zakat donors for their benevolence in obeying the call of Allah to pay zakat as one of the five pillars of Islam.
