Youths in Yobe State under the auspices of the World Motivational Speakers (WDMS) have protested against rape, kidnapping and deterioration of education in the North.
According to them, the protest was to task security agencies to overcome lingering security challenges in the affected 19 states.
Leading the protest in Potiskum, WDMS’ representative, Aliyu Haruna, disclosed that the rate of rape and kidnapping in the North had continued, with the loss of many lives and ransom payments in millions of naira on a daily basis.
He lamented that the future of the victims were endangered with increased levels of trauma and mental disorders.
Citing Yobe, he noted that dozens of women, young and old, were raped in the last six years, and that most of the suspects still walked free in communities.
