Passengers contribute to road accidents – FRSC

The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Paul Okpe, who made the remark in a chat with City & Crime, said one of the challenges FRSC faced in the course of ensuring safety on the roads had to do with passengers who were not cooperating, but instead instigated motorists to drive with speed.

 Mr Okpe said, “One of the challenges we have in the course of doing our job is passengers who contribute to road accidents.

 “When we have our men on the roads cautioning drivers against over speeding, you see some passengers saying all manner of things; like that we should leave the driver because they are in a hurry.”

 He noted that, “Passengers should rather caution drivers rather than saying, ‘We are in a hurry’, which makes some of these drivers to embark on speed.”
