APC will retain power in Imo – Kalu

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu has expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will defeat other political parties in the November 11 governorship election to retain power in Imo State.

The lawmaker said he is solidly behind the state governor and candidate of the APC, Hope Uzodinma and would work for his re-election.

The deputy speaker spoke during a thanksgiving service held at Catholic Church Assumpta Cathedral to commemorate the 63rd Independence Day anniversary of Nigeria.

Kalu, in a statement yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Levinus Nwabughiogu commended the efforts of the South East governors to root out insecurity in the South East zone and promised to synergise with them towards securing the region.

Kalu who joined Uzodinma at the service acknowledged the efforts of the governor who is also the Chairman, South East Governors’ Forum as well as the Chairman, APC Governors’ Forum, in providing “visible” leadership in the state.

The deputy speaker called for unity and patience on the part of the masses, adding that he was in Owerri to meet with the governor to strengthen measures to tackle the growing security challenges in the region.

According to him, insecurity is a major concern to leaders of the region, especially, those of the APC extraction.
