The Milk Value Chain Foundation in partnership with ECOWAS is set to implement the Enhancement of Youth Employment project aimed at addressing youth unemployment in pastoral communities of Chikun and Kubau local governments in Kaduna State.
The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Dr. Ishaq Bello, during an inception workshop to sensitise the public on the project, explained that the objectives of the project are on youth employment, increased milk supply and improvement in livelihoods of producers.
He said this would be achieved through improving dairy production and feed enterprises with beneficiary communities including Luumo Kosam and Damau Grazing Village milk producer cooperatives.
Dr. Ishaq explained that the male youth will be trained as fodder entrepreneurs while assets such as pasture and supplementary feed will be provided for them for take-off. He added that female youth would be provided with improved cows that have high milk yield and would also be trained and linked to service providers.

On his part, The MD of Zaidi Farms, Idi Mukhtar said Kaduna is lucky to have been selected for the project through a strict ECOWAS process noting that they will make good use of the opportunity provided by the Swiss government.
