The police in Jigawa State have arrested suspected armed robbers, vandals, rustlers and drug barons in various locations in the state.
In a statement, the command’s spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said that the police also recovered an OPEL vehicle, three rams, armoured cables, a phone and illicit drugs.
The statement reads in part: “On 18/09/2023 at about 1130hrs, a distress call was received at Jahun police station that smoke was seen coming out from the house of one Usman Ibrahim of Kabala Quarters, Jahun LGA.
“Upon receiving the report, the DPO led a team of policemen and swiftly moved to the scene. On their arrival, it was discovered that the smoke was a result of burning armoured cables strongly suspected to be stolen by the said Usman Ibrahim, hence he was arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to have dug and vandalised cables along the Jahun-Kafin Hausa road.”
In another incident, according to the statement: “On 22/09/2023 at about 0400hrs, a distress call was received from Kadoma village in Jahun LGA that someone trespassed into the house of one Halima Yau and made away with her Tecno phone valued at N20,000. The suspect attacked her with a knife as a result of which she sustained injuries on her face and back.
“On receipt of the report, a team of policemen were mobilised and rushed to the scene where the suspect was arrested and the exhibit recovered.”
