The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo) has replaced a faulty transformer to boost power supply to the Ikorodu axis in Lagos State.
City & Crime reports that several communities in Ikorodu recently protested over poor power supply which was attributed to faulty 15MVA transformers.
But the DisCo has strengthened the infrastructure with the replacement of the faulty transformer at the Sabo Injection Substation (ISS) with a new one.
The Chief Technical Officer of Ikeja Electric, Engr Olajide Kumapayi, disclosed that the replacement cost close to N250m.

He said the replacement became necessary to ease the poor power supply being experienced by over 15,000 customers that were getting supply from the Sabo Injection Substation.
He noted that the replacement would increase the availability of supply from the previous three hours to a minimum of 12 hours daily.
Engr Kumapayi stated that nine 11kv feeders were radiated from the Sabo Injection Substation through two transformers.
He further explained that the construction of a new injection substation at the Lagos State University of Technology (LASUTECH), Ikorodu, would commence shortly, noting that it would provide one dedicated 11kv feeder for LASUTECH and two additional feeders to relieve Erunwen and Ijebu-Ode 11kv feeders in the Sabo Injection Substation.
