Delta gov swears in NNPP gov’ship candidate, 8 others as special advisers

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State yesterday sworn in Goodnews Agbi, the candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the March 18 governorship election and eight others as his special advisers.

The other eight sworn in were; Hon. Charles Oniyere; Mr. Michael Ogboru; Chief Ebikeme Clark; Chief Sylvester Oromoni, Hon. Shadrach Rapu, Dr. Donald Peterson, Hon. Peter Uviejitobor and Chief Nathaniel Igbani.

The governor said his administration is poised to break new grounds in infrastructural development, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable development in the state.

He added that the appointment of the new special advisers was part of efforts towards building a strong team of technocrats and policy experts for the implementation of his administration’s policies and programmes

Meanwhile, the Gombe State House of Assembly has confirmed the 17 commissioner-nominees, over six weeks after Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya submitted the list to the lawmakers.

Chief Whip of the House, Musa Buba disclosed this after the Assembly concluded the screening exercise of all the 17 commissioner-nominees submitted by the governor to serve as members of the state executive council.

Daily Trust reports that the exercise commenced last Thursday with the screening of seven nominees; Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde (Funakaye); Asma’u Iganus (Shongom); Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello (rtd) (Balanga); Dr Barnabas Malle (Kaltungo) and Adamu Inuwa Pantami (Gombe), Barrister Zubairu Mohammed Umar (Funakaye), Dr Aishatu Umar Maigari (Dukku) and Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri (Akko LGA).

Nine screened on Friday were; Dr Habu Dahiru (Yamaltu/Deba), Dr Usman Maijama’a Kallamu (Kwami), Mohammed Shettima Gadam (Kwami), Muhammad Gambo Magaji (Dukku).

Others are; Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu (Yamaltu/Deba), Mohammed Saidu Fawu (Billiri), Salihu Baba Alkali (Nafada), Sanusi Ahmed Maidala (Akko) and Dr Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa (Gombe), who was last to be screened on Tuesday.
