Police dislodge criminals at Seme border, recover arms

Detectives attached to the Seme Police Division in the Badagry area of Lagos State at the weekend dislodged scores of armed urchins from an uncompleted house and recovered ammunition.

City & Crime reports that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) had on Monday raised the alarm that terrorists were still operating at some borders in the country, lamenting that drug traffickers continued to use the borders to bring in narcotics that fueled terrorism.

The acting Comptroller General (CG) of NSC, Adewale Adeniyi, stated this at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday, when he visited the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja.

Following the NSC alarm, while addressing newsmen, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Idowu Owohunwa, said the command at the weekend dislodged some urchins from an uncompleted house at the Seme border.

Owohunwa, who was represented by the command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that on September 4, 2023, at about 7am the police got credible information about the presence of a group of boys in the area.

He said, “Police operatives stormed the scene, and upon sighting the police, all the suspects fled. The operatives recovered a Smith and Wesson (S&W) pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition.

“It was obvious that the group was planning to attack a location. The timely intervention of the police prevented the hoodlums from carrying out their mission. Effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.”
