NSCDC trains 900 personnel on schools’ protection

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa State has trained no fewer than 900 personnel under its Safe School Initiative to protect schools from attacks.

NSCDC’s Commander in the state, Mr Ibrahim Mainasara, who disclosed this in commemoration of the 2023 International Day to Protect Education from Attack organised by Education in Emergency Working Group and the Adamawa State Government in Yola on Saturday, said the corps was doing everything possible to guarantee secured learning environment from national down to the states.

Represented by the command’s spokesman, Dimas Billed, Mainasara said 400 personnel were recently trained in Borno and another 500 were undergoing training in Benue.

He said, “NSCDC is the lead agency in the National Safe School Project and works in collaboration with other sister agencies, including host communities.”

In his remarks, Dr Garba Pella, Commissioner for Education, said attack on education was a violation of human rights and a direct assault on the future generations. (NAN)
