Kano State government has renamed Northerwest University after late Danmasanin Kano, Dr Yusuf Maitama Sule.
Briefing newsmen on the outcome of a Special Weekly Executive Council meeting, the State’s Comissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said the institution would now be called Yusuf Maitama Sule university.
He said the university was named Danmasani so that he could be remembered for his tremendous contributions to the development of Kano state, north and the nation as a whole.
Garba also said the council had approved the renaming of Dawaki road where the residence of the deceased was located to Yusuf Maitama Sule.
The commissioner added that the council had equally renamed Yusuf Maitama Sule link road to Jafaru Dan Malam link road.
