Wike denies writing EFCC, ICPC to probe ex-minister, Bello

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has denied an online report claiming that he is planning to invite the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate his predecessor, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, in relation to irregularities in the award of contracts and other such matters.

In a statement, Anthony Ogunlewe, the director of press in the minister’s office, said the reports were “entirely baseless and without any merit whatsoever.”

He said that Wike, during his routine inspection of various projects within the FCT, had indeed expressed concerns and frustration regarding irregularities observed in the procurement and execution of certain projects, among other observations which he publicly expressed.
