Flood hinders junior WAEC exams in Borno

A two-hour downpour in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital yesterday flooded many areas, including some schools where examinations of the West African Examinations Council (Junior WAEC) were taking place.

Our correspondent who went round the metropolis, reports that the flood also affected many residential areas and market places where the drainages were not evacuated.

Speaking, the Principal of Mafoni Liberty Junior Secondary School in Maiduguri, Comrade Yusuf Ibn Tom, appealed to the relevant authorities to see how best they could clear the gutter so that flood would not continue disrupting their activities.  

Meanwhile, the Caretaker Chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Alhaji Garba Saje urged residents to complement government’s effort by not littering the environment to ensure free flow of water.

Elsewhere, in Chibok Local Government Area, the Council Chairman, Mr. Yaga Yarakawa, while participating in sand-filling a place washed off by flood due to a heavy rainfall in his area, appealed to the state government to include a provision of culvert  along Chibok Secondary School in the reconstruction of Damboa-Chibok road.
