The police, on Tuesday, arraigned 36-year-old Joseph Moureen for allegedly assaulting a police constable by holding his neck and causing him bodily harm.
Moureen, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of assault and causing bodily harm.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the crime.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Kokoye, had told the court that the defendant unlawfully assaulted supernumerary police constable, Abdulkareem Abdulahi, while performing his lawful duty contrary to Sections 174(B) and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The magistrate, Mrs S. O. Obasa, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties, who must provide their bank verification numbers and pictures.
Obasa adjourned the matter until Sept. 27 for mention. (NAN)
