At least one person died, while 14 others sustained various degrees of injury following a heavy downpour in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
City & Crime reports that a heavy downpour last week affected Ganyen Kura, Malari, behind WfP Warehouse, 3 bedroom flat in Gujba Rd housing Estate, Pompomari, Nayi Nawa, Abbari West and Bulabulin Tsallake areas.
The Executive Secretary of the state Emergency Management Agency, Dr Muhammad Goje, said over 200 households had so far been affected.
Dr Goje said the agency had assessed and validated the affected communities, adding that one person died when a building collapsed, and 14 others sustained injuries.

He said 10 were discharged and four were still under admission, and majority of the victims are ‘almajirai’ in Tsangaya school at Abbari West.
‘‘1,596 Individuals (963 males & 633 females) are affected by the flood with one death, and five of these individuals are people with disability,’’ he said.
Goje said the SEMA team carried out a rapid spot assessment to ascertain the needs of the victims for immediate support.
