Kebbi leads Lagos, Kano with 37,294 eLearning users

Kebbi State has ranked first in the number of eLearning passport users in the country leading states like Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Katsina with 37,294.

Lagos trails second with 34,889, Kaduna third with 29,379 while Katsina is fourth with 25,061 users.

While addressing journalists at a one-day media engagement and awareness campaign on NLP in Birnin Kebbi, the team leader of Nigeria learning passport in the state, Hajiya Hauwa Muhammed said the Kebbi State NLP was the first to reach the target number of 20,000 enrolment into the platform.

The Nigeria learning passport is an online learning with mobile phone and offline that provides continue access to qualify education system for all children, teachers and communities.

She said it was designed by the federal ministry of education in collaboration with UNICEF, Microsoft and Globalpartnership.

To boost the NLP education system in the state, she said “UNICEF has supported Kebbi with Samsung Galaxy tablets, 100 screen protectors, 60 Airtel routers with sim cards to 60 schools, 45 public primary, JSS and 15 integrated Quranic schools”.

Malam Ibrahim Idris, a director in the state Ministry for Basic Education said government alone cannot shoulder responsibilities of the Nigeria learning passport programme. He enjoined other stakeholders to join hands with the state government.
