Police arrest man accused of supplying guns to cultists in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested one Godfrey Tietie (40) (a.k.a  “Don Baby”) for allegedly supply guns to cultist in Sapele, Oghara and environs in Delta State.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba.

Edafe alleged that the suspect was also a notorious cultist, who has been terrorizing Oghara and environs.

He added that the suspect, a member of Aiye confraternity, is also suspected to be a gun runner.

He said the suspect was arrested at Ogorode Road by Texaco in Sapele, and upon search, a locally made revolver pistol was recovered from him. 

 Edafe also disclosed that cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from suspected criminals’ hideout in the state.

He said the arms and ammunition were recovered by patrol team attached to ‘C’ division, Asaba, along Isa-Ogwashi-Uku Aniocha South LGA.

He listed the arms and ammunition recovered to include two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated Berretta pistol and four rounds of live ammunition.

Also recovered was one magazine loaded with seven rounds of 7.62mm ammunitions, one English pump action gun with three live cartridges, and two cut-to-size double barrel gun.

According to him, two locally made single barrel guns, all detachable with 18 live cartridges were also recovered from him.
