The founder, Africado Foundation, Richardson Ojeka, has appealed to the federal government to invest more on the welfare of Nigerian youths.

Ojeka, while speaking Saturday in Abuja at the commemoration of the 2023 International Youth Day, said young people need a roadmap, which he said only the government can create.

“It is important that the government deliberately invest in young people, create empowerment programmes in a large scale and tap into the creative and industrious nature of Nigerians.

“Young people need a roadmap that they should follow. This should be created by the government. They need to invest more and put up programmes and projects deliberately for young people. The government is doing a lot and they still need to do more,” he said.

Earlier, the Country Director, Actionaid Nigeria, Ene Obi, faulted the inability of the government to fix the moribund refineries.

Obi explained that Nigerians are paying more for fuel due to the incapacity and inefficiency on the part of the government to fix the refineries.

She added that Nigeria’s youth population is a blessing and not a curse, hence the government should harness the population advantage and utilize it positively.

While charging the youth not to lose hope in their dreams, Nigerian leaders should be upright and abide by the dictates of the national anthem and the pledge.
