Banditry: ASUU distributes foods, sanitary pads to Niger IDPs

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has distributed foods and sanitary pads to over 1, 000 Internally Displaced Persons in Kuta, Shiroro LGA of Niger State.

 ASUU National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said the distribution of food stuffs was part of the union’s social responsibility to citizens especially those in dire need of support.

 He said the banditry and insurgency were caused by poor governance and neglect of the ordinary citizens whom government ought to have been taken care of.

 “We are appealing to the government to help these people; they are in dire need of support. What we are doing is our corporate social responsibility to put smile on the face of the needy. 

 The chairman of ASUU, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Gbolahan Bolarin, said the items distributed included 800 bags of 25kg rice, beans, sanitary pads, cooking oil, among others, worth over N12 million naira.
