The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the federal government through the Department of State Services (DSS) to release the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), AbdulRasheed Bawa, or charge him to court.
The Executive Director of MURIC, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, made the call on Thursday in a statement.
Daily Trust reports that the immediate past EFCC boss, Bawa, was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and has been in detention since 14th June, 2023.
“There should be no detention without trial in a democracy. It stands in contradistinction to Section 41 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
He said Bawa should be set free or brought to court where his charges will be read to him.
