Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Polycarp Emeka Nwaonyi, has called on hospitals in Rivers State to treat persons brought to their respective hospitals with gunshot wounds.
Nwaonyi who spoke to journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday on the heels of a police officer that sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rejected by eight hospitals he was taken to in Rivers State said hospitals should treat gunshot victims irrespective of the circumstances that caused the gunshot injury.
He said rejecting gunshot victims would jeopardise their chances of survival.

He said that the injured police officer who was shot and had his intestines gushed out after a gun battle with criminal gangs was rejected by eight hospitals he was taken to before he was brought to the police clinic in Port Harcourt.
