The Bauchi State Government has sacked the management of Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Wikki Tourists football club.
The sack of the club chairman Balarabe Douglas and members of his management committee was contained in a letter dated August 8 and signed by Danjuma Garba on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government.
The letter reads, “I am directed to refer to the Government’s pronouncement of Thursday, 25th May, 2023 on the disengagement of Political Office Holders in the State.
“And to inform you that the disengagement order also affected your office as Chairman, Wikki Tourists Football Club and other members of the Management Team of the Club, hence, you cease to be the Management team of the Club.”

The letter which also copied the Commissioner of Youth and Sports further noted, “Consequently, I am further directed to request you to hand-over the affairs of Wikki Tourists Football Club to the Ministry of Youth and Sports with immediate effect, pending the reconstitution of the Management of the Club.”
The sack of the former chairman didn’t come to many as a surprise because it was under him that Wikki Tourists were relegated from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to the NNL.
It will also be recalled that at least three coaches who left the club under controversial circumstances accused Douglas of unnecessary interference in their duties.
