The acting Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Emmanuel Agema, has assured that the newly commissioned Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre in the state will generate over N600 million revenue annually for the state.
Our correspondent reports that Governor Hyacinth Alia had on Wednesday commissioned the first Benue Computerised Vehicle Inspection Service (BECVIS) located at North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi, the state capital. The centre, with state-of-the-art facilities, has the capacity to inspect about 100 vehicles per day.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Agema said that the revenue authority had integrated the platform of Temple Group Ltd, the company operating the inspection centre, into the platform of the service to block leakages and enhance collection as all payments shall be made to the Central Billing System of the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF) from the services of testing the road-worthiness of vehicles in the state.
Earlier in his address, the Benue State Chief of VIO, Engr Joseph Zayau, thanked the BIRS chairman for supporting the smooth take-off of the project.
