An Abuja area court sitting in Bwari Area Council of the FCT has ordered the DNA test on a woman and her assumed father following a case brought before it by the woman, Hauwa’u Abubakar, a resident of Dutsen-Alhaji town in Bwari Area Council.
The woman complained to the court that her younger siblings had demanded her to leave their family house, insisting that she was not a daughter to their father.
At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, the mother of the petitioner, who is the first respondent in the case, Hajara Ibrahim, had identified a resident of the area, Abubakar Gani, as the one that fathered her daughter.
She said she was later married off to a different person by her parents because the man refused to accept the petitioner as his biological daughter.

Responding, the second respondent, Abubakar Gani, denied fathering the petitioner, maintaining that he had no intercourse with her mother in the first place.
The Judge, Abdurrahman Ibrahim, who ordered that the two parties would share the cost of the DNA test estimated to be N200,000, adjourned the case to August 8, 2023.
