A 42-year-old crayfish seller, Nnenna Amaechi, has been arraigned in an Isolo magistrates’ court, Lagos, over an alleged attack on a Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) official at the Igando area of the state.
The accused, who is standing trial on a two-count charge of assault and obstruction, had allegedly displayed her crayfish by the side of the road.
Recall that the state’s task force had vowed to clamp down on street trading in Lagos metropolis and had also dislodged many traders in Agege, Oshodi and Lekki areas.
The police said the accused attacked a KAI official, Mrs Success, for seizing her wares.

The prosecutor, Oje Uagbale, said while the KAI official was taking away the seized items, the accused attacked her until other officials of KAI came to the victim’s rescue.
He further said, “My lord, before her arrest, she also assaulted a police inspector, Okodigun Gloria, by holding her uniform at a bus stop.”
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Akokhia, granted her bail and adjourned to September 19, 2023.
