NCC hold village square dialogue to sensitise telecom consumers on their right

The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) says it is committed to protecting, informing, and educating consumers of telecom services across all 36 states of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Director Consumer Affairs Bureau, NCC, Alkasim Umar, stated this on Thursday during the 4th edition of its Village Square dialogue tagged ” Know your right” at Lelewal Hotel, Yola.

Umar explained that the Village Square Dialogue provides a face-to-face interaction between the NCC, service providers, and telecom consumers to keep abreast of industry happenings for improved consumer experience.

Speaking in Fulfulde, the local language, he emphasized that the NCC’s commitment to educating telecom consumers about their rights and encouraged attendees to participate in the conversation.

He encouraged attendees to listen, participate, seek clarification, and seek resolution on consumer complaints regarding telecom service delivery in Nigeria.

The Director reminded attendees to take advantage of the NCC so that no one takes advantage of them.

He expressed his appreciation for the hospitality of His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, Lamido of Adamawa, the Traditional Council members, and the people of Adamawa State.

The Lamido of Adamawa, who was represented by the Kakakey Adamawa (Lamido’s spokesperson ), Professor Abba Tahir, said there is no modernity without telecommunication, adding that “this is the world of internet, social media, artificial intelligence, robotics and all element of digitalization cannot work without telecommunication”.

He commended the NCC for the village dialogue initiative on sensitizing the people on their rights, privileges and expectations about the telecommunication business in the country.
