Plateau crisis: Troops impound 1,000 cattle, sheep grazing on farms in Mangu LGA

Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) maintaining peace in Mangu LGA of Plateau State have impounded over 1,000 cattle and sheep for grazing on farmlands.

In a statement. Spokesman of OPSH, Captain Oya James, said that the animals were impounded in Dumunan village in Bwai District in the ongoing effort to address the security challenges bedeviling the area.

He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the animals came from Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs.

City & Crime reports that more than 200 people have been confirmed killed in the crisis between Mwaghavul and Fulani communities in the last three months.

Recall that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander OPSH, Major General A E Abubakar, on Monday last week during an emergency meeting with stakeholders from Mangu promised to tackle the root cause of the crisis and block anything that could lead to renewed attacks.
