Sokoto pays registration fees for 7,000 indigent students

The Sokoto State government has paid the registration fees of its students at Usmanu Danfodiyo University.

Daily Trust exclusively reported how the intervention of Governor Ahmed Aliyu saved the students from being expelled by the university over unpaid registration fees.

The governor, while receiving the students a few hours after assuming office, pleaded with the vice-chancellor of the university to extend the deadline for the registration by a week which was obliged.

In fulfillment of his promise, Aliyu set up a committee to screen the students and ensure the registration fees were paid on time.

Speaking, the chairman of the committee, Nasiru Dantsoho, said over 7,000 students were cleared for registration.

He charged the students to justify the huge investment in them by the state government.
