The ‘Jennifer Etuh Foundation,’ a non-governmental organisation, on Monday, commissioned a new hospital built for the people of Tula village in Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Chairman of the foundation, Mr Thomas Etuh, said the hospital was constructed by the foundation to give the people of the village access to healthcare services at their doorsteps.

He said the foundation was established in 2020 in memory of his late wife, Mrs Jennifer Etuh, who has a vision to provide available, accessible and affordable world-class healthcare services to women and children.

He explained that he decided to fulfil his late wife’s vision by building and donating medical centres and hospitals too hard to reach areas in six geopolitical zones of the country.

According to him, the foundation had constructed similar medical centres at Odu village in Kogi State, Kagoro in Kaduna State and Ifewara village in Osun State.

Mr Etuh added that the foundation also built skills acquisition centres in three geopolitical zones of the country, in addition to offering free medical outreaches.

“Before the passing of my darling wife, late Jennifer Etuh, she gave very explicit and precise instructions of this vision, which over the past two years have continuously become a reality. And we are here to commemorate her legacy,” he said.

The chairman added that the foundation has since its establishment intervened in the area of education empowerment of women and girls from different walks of life with support ranging from school fees and finance for petty trades.

In his remark, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya commended the foundation for the gesture, which he said would augment the ongoing government efforts to revamp healthcare services delivery in the state.

The governor stated that his administration provided 114 primary healthcare centres in 114 wards across the state and upgraded the state specialist hospital.

Yahaya urged other philanthropists to emulate the foundation in order to augment the government in its desire to make life better for the people and residents of the state.
