Family Support Primary School in Gombe has won the just concluded Inter Primary Schools Athletics competition organized by the Gombe State Athletics Association under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe.
Zainab Ahmed Nafada, who competed in 100m, long jump, 200m, 4x100m and relay events, masterminded the triumph of Family Support who won a total of five gold and five silver medals to clinch the first position.
While Hassan Central won three gold and one bronze medal to finish second, Gabukka Primary School placed third with two gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
Speaking after the competition which was held at Pantami Stadium Gombe, teen sensation Zainab thanked Almighty Allah for her outstanding performances.

Zainab also expressed happiness over her school’s dominance and called on those who didn’t win to work harder for better results in future competitions.
“As a primary school pupil, I am very happy and encouraged to take athletics more seriously. I will continue with athletics even when I get into secondary school.
“My performance in this competition has shown that I have potential to do well in the sport so I will continue to develop myself,” said Zainab.
“Even though I emerged as the overall best, my ambition is to be a medical doctor in future,” she added.
The inaugural edition of the catch-them young programme kicked-off on Saturday, July 8 and ended yesterday.
