A man, Yahuza Yakubu (22), has been arraigned before a Sharia court sitting in Kofar Kudu, Kano, for allegedly stealing his step mother’s money.
The defendant’s father, Malam Yakubu, dragged him before the court and pleaded with the judge to punish him, alleging that he had been constant in the act.
Malam Yakubu told the court that the step mother even bought a tricycle for the defendant to make him independent and also stop stealing but that he didn’t use the opportunity.
He said, “That is why I brought him before my lord for you to punish him. We are tired of his habits and we have followed all the necessary processes for him to change but he hasn’t.”
